Our family roots reach back to the harbor town of Palermo, Sicily. Harbor town
life provided our family a hard-working existence and a passion for simple, but
really good food. Our family immigrated to America in the early 1900s and after
living in New York and Kansas City, decided on settling in Dallas in the early
1940s. My father opened up the Carroll Lounge in the late forty's and started
serving his mothers pizza shortly thereafter. After seeing how popular the pizza
was, he decided to convert the lounge into a pizzeria in 1956, becoming the
first true "pizzeria" in the city. With city expansion booming in the early 1960s, my
father decided to move to the farthest part of Dallas which then was Preston
Road intersecting Royal Lane; construction on LBJ had just begun. |
